Alzenau, 5 December 2022 – CMBlu Energy AG‘s supervisory board has appointed Richard Stoffelen on November 30 2022 to become part of the company’s executive board. With immediate effect, he will oversee financial operations at the leading developer and producer of Solid-Flow energy storage systems. Richard Stoffelen joins the executive board as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) next to CTO Dr. Nastaran Krawczyk and founder and CEO Dr. Peter Geigle.
“We are happy to have Richard on board – a very experienced and internationally-connected manager and expert for economics and finance. Considering the upcoming expansion of our production capacities and the rollout of our innovative batteries to pilot projects, for example in Burgenland, an Austrian state, and at Uniper power plant Staudinger in Hesse, Germany, he joins us at the right time. With his expertise he enhances our top management in this important phase of our company growth”
Before joining CMBlu, Richard Stoffelen served as CFO at Centogene - a life science company - that was initially listed on Nasdaq during his tenure. Beforehand, Richard Stoffelen was a long time partner at KPMG. His career led him to work and live in Europe, the USA and China (Hong Kong). On his new role, he comments:
The energy transition is not possible without very large energy storage systems. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to be able to contribute to such a ground-breaking project to have a real global and sustainable impact. Finding the right investors and the capital needed to support CMBlu’s upcoming growth and the scale up of production of our Solid-Flow Batteries, is an incredibly exciting task and challenge that I’m really looking forward to!”
With innovative Organic Solid-Flow Energy Storage Systems, CMBlu offers an affordable solution that is environmentally friendly, fully recyclable, and free from critical, flammable, or explosive materials. The modular storage systems are scalable into the gigawatt scale, long-lasting, safe, and ideal for reducing the intermittency of renewable energy projects – and therefore turning them into firm power plants.
Ever since CMBlu Energy AG was founded in 2014, the company based in the Rhein-Main region has been developing organic solid-flow batteries. It is now one of the world’s largest developers of non-lithium-based energy storage systems in the multi-megawatt range. CMBlu employs over 160 people, more than 100 of whom are involved in research and development. With the impending market launch of its energy storage systems, the company is clearly on course for growth.
